A day in the tulips

Yesterday after church we spent the afternoon at the Dallas Arboretum to see the tulips during "Dallas Blooms." We were so impressed! It is truly a spectacular sight to see and the 65 degree weather couldn't have been more perfect. Jaxon loved seeing all the colors, crawling all over the perfectly groomed grass, and playing outside. I think we'll go back again soon for a picnic.

Here are a few of my favorite pics...actually Scott filled up two memory cards with pictures so when I quickly skimmed through them these are the ones I chose.

Just a few of the millions of blooms

Probably his best pic of the day. No tulips though.

Playing with Daddy.

Walking with mommy. He's getting closer to doing it on his own. When he's behind his walker he is a crazy man with absolutely no fear...watch out!

We can't figure out how the old man who took this got him to look at the camera. We acted crazy all day long and couldn't get him to look. The man just counted to three.

Let us know if you want to go back with us next time!

Parenthood

Scott and I absolutely love NBC's new show, "Parenthood." We love it so much that we have basically dropped two other shows and watch this instead. Let's be honest, "American Idol" is just not doing it for me this year and "24" is kind of depressing (are quotations what you are supposed to use around tv shows or is that just magazines?).

Every member of the "Braverman Family" is so easy to relate to. I've found myself laughing and crying all within a matter of minutes. Plus, they are raising awareness for Autism having a charachter with Asperger's Syndrome.

Here's the huge cast

Can't you just picture youself fitting right into their family too?

If you haven't been watching you can catch up on the 4 or so episodes you missed on hulu. I think you'll like it just as much as we do!

Perfection

He has done it. He has officially perfected the art of feeding our dog what he doesn't want to eat. This is yet another reason why he has the nickname, booger.

In fact, I think he and Grace (the dog) have an agreement. They both work the system to make this work for them. He feeds Grace and Grace licks his fingers of the evidence. It's a pretty advanced idea for a 10 month old. He must take after his mommy.

The Culprit

Caught in the action.

Licking fingers to erase all evidence.

snot sucker

I've had a sick baby all week. I was really hoping it was just teething but by Thursday I had realized that it isn't just teeth. He has a really bad cold. The pediatrician confirmed it for me Thursday afternoon and we are still dealing with it. In fact, I think it's only gotten worse. The poor baby is miserable. He is happiest cuddled on my shoulder with a pacifier in his mouth. I'm so sorry if we were around your baby earlier this week. Please forgive us.

In an effort to relieve some of his pain I have used what I believe is the greatest baby gift of all time...The Nosefrida. Thank you Meredith!

Here is a picture of the snot sucker at work.

(No, this is not me...just found it online.)

Yes, you are seeing this correctly. Mom (or dad) sucks mucas from the baby's nose and it help relieve nasal congestion. Don't worry, there is a filter that prevents snot from going into mom's mouth. The best thing about it is that it actually works! If you have ever used a bulb syringe you know they never work. But this great invention does.

If you're looking for a great baby gift that gets a good rise from everyone at a baby shower, look no further.

Just because I don't like posting without a picture of our sweet little boy, here he is a few weeks ago when he wasn't sick.

Have a great weekend!

Guilty

He is sick. I feel guilty.

I feel guilty because I dragged a sick baby around Wal-Mart today. This was him in the shopping cart. Usually he is the baby siting up, laughing, and trying to eat my shopping list. Not today. Today he rested his sweet head on my purse the whole trip while I dodged the people of Wally-World. I'm hoping it's just that he's teething but how's a mom to know?

Just so you know, he forgave me quickly. He showed me by falling asleep while cuddling tonight. I love that he always forgives me.

One more reason to love my hubs

A couple of weeks ago I ran my first half marathon. It was a big deal for me....I did just have a baby a few months ago. I trained for about 8 weeks and rarely got off my schedule. When I make up my mind about something I usually go all out. Scott supported me 100%! I'm not sure that he totally realizes why I would have an interest in running for 2 hours since he despises running but he loved me through it and took care of baby J every Saturday while I did long runs and then when I napped afterward. He never complained.

Then race day came. I do believe he was more excited than I was. His friend let him borrow one of the gigantic sports photographer lenses for his camera. The kind you see on the sidelines of the Cowboys games. This made him giddy. This also made me the most photographed runner in the Cowtown half marathon. Yes, there were over 20,ooo runners that day but I was the most photographed thanks to my hubby. It also gained him access to all the restricted areas of the race. As I crossed the finish line I was looking for him on the oher side of the baracades but no, my hubster was inside the baracades and waiting at the finish line as I crossed it. All because he looked professional with the giantic lense and his stellar photographer stance. This is one more reason that I love him.

Now for a few embarressing photos.

Where's Waldo?

Humilitaing but you can see where my stellar hubs is standing....the finish line.

The boys I love.

My fantastic Mom who came to cheer me on. I sent her and Baby boy to the wrong place to cheer for me during the race so they missed seeing me run but met us downtown afterward.

Our future olympian. When he wins his first gold someday I'll submit this for his olympic slideshow.

Thanks for reading!

praying

There is a little baby girl that I haven't been able to stop praying for. I don't know her. I don't know anyone who knows her. Yet, my heart is completely broken for her and her family. Her name is Layla Grace. She is precious and she is 2 years old. She is fighting for her life and has been in the care of hospice for few weeks. It is cancer. I hate cancer.

I have prayed and cried and prayed and cried. I have also grown and been in awe reading about how their family has clung to Christ in the midst of this tragedy. When I read their story I see Christ. There is no other explanation for the peace that they feel while they hold their little girl in this state. They write about how God has done more through little Layla in 2 short years than ever imaginable. So, while I pray for this family and Layla I also pray that others who read their blog will understand the reality of our Savior. The world is a hard place to be. But, God is good and is bigger than the world.

Read about Layla Grace and please pray for her and her sweet family.

Too Big

Our little man is 10 months old now! It's hard to believe that in 2 more months he'll be a one year old. Time is flying by way too quickly. Daddy set up a little 10 month old photo shoot at the park by our house on Sunday. It was a gorgeous day but by the time we got to the park it had gotten a little cool. Oh well! Here are some of our favorite pics!

Very artsy, daddy!

First time climbing a tree.

We have a little horse farm by our house.

How precious is he in his barn jacket. If only his cowboy boots fit him.

He definitely loves the swing.

Thanks for checking in!
